Our Center participated in the Eğirdir Lake and Water Efficiency Mobilization Workshop
Under the coordination of the Isparta Governorship, the “Eğirdir Lake and Water Efficiency Mobilization Workshop” was organized by the General Directorate of Water Management, State Hydraulic Works 18th Regional Directorate, and Süleyman Demirel University Water Institute.
Approximately 60 people, including academics, experts in the field, representatives of public institutions and organizations, and private sector representatives, participated in the workshop attended by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Wildlife Conservation, Rehabilitation Application and Research Center Director Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Yasemin ÖZDEMİR. In 3 separate working groups, “the hydrological, hydrogeological status of Eğirdir Lake and its basin”, “climate change” and “water uses”, “water quality and ecological status”, “agricultural production and irrigation”, “sectoral water efficiency practices” and “provincial water efficiency plan” were discussed. Numerous draft decisions were made regarding the current problems of Eğirdir Lake and solution alternatives.
In his speech at the closing section, Governor BARUŞ stated that drought is one of the most important problems for Turkey as it is worldwide, and said that they attach great importance to the decisions made at the workshop to ensure that Eğirdir Lake is affected at the minimum level.
Subsequently, certificates were presented to the participants of the workshop by Governor BARUŞ and protocol members.
